Obituary of Lorraine Van Daele
Van Daele (DeMey): Lorraine, a resident of Dresden, passed away peacefully August 29, 2020, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Chatham Township, cherished daughter of the late Gustaaf and Odila (Van Yper) De Mey.
Beloved wife of Jerome Van Daele for 64 years. Devoted mother of Michael (Deb) Van Daele, Gerry (Nancy) Van Daele, Cheryl (Dave) Cameron, Annette (Terry) Huston, Patty (Scott) Sproule.
Loved and cherished Grandmother of Dane Van Daele, Riley Van Daele (Kristyn), Justin (Sara) Van Daele, Jordan (Samantha) Van Daele, Carly Van Daele (Eddie), Allan, Chad and Evan Cameron, Jason (Danielle) Huston, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Huston, Jillian Sproule (Justin), Janelle Sproule (Kevin) and Brett Sproule (Brynn).
Blessed great grandmother of Mackenzie and Olivia Van Daele, and Caleb, Claire and Hannah Huston.
Predeceased by sister Susie (Gordon) Morgan. Much loved sister-in-law of Betty Baute, Aime (Angeline) Van Daele and Francis (Nora) Van Daele. Predeceased by Mary (Peter) Strathopolous, Charley Baute, Omer (Rosemary) Van Daele. Lorraine will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was a faithful member of: St. Michael’s Church, St. Michael’s Church Choir, St. Michael’s Parish Advisory Board, and the Dresden Horticultural Society. She was Past President of the Catholic Women’s League and Past President and Director of the St. Vincent de Paul Camp.
Family came first to Lorraine, she was so grateful for, and proud of, her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Lorraine was very faith-filled, she enjoyed travelling near or far, she was an avid gardener, an animal lover, and also loved music, dancing and supporting the activities of her family. She had a passion for baseball, curling, figure skating and hockey.
We would like to thank the Erie St. Clair LIHN, Bayshore, VON and the Alzheimer’s Society, for the exceptional care and support Lorraine has received over the years. You are all angels, and were a blessing to Lorraine and the family.
A Private Family Mass will be celebrated with interment in Dresden Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden.
