To the Lawson family - I realize I am very late in sending this, but I just found out about Harry's passing. I was able to get to know Harry and work with him on various agriculture related files and committees. His commitment, dedication and love to his family and to his farmers was amazing. He knew what he talked about. That is a rare trait these days.
May the Lord surround each one of you with His comfort and strength and love during this difficult time.

My name is Courtney Denard and I am a journalist and editor with Ontario Farmer newspaper. Harry and I had been emailing back and forth in January with plans to write an article about his health journey and to promote donor registration to the farming community. We never met in person, nor did we have our phone interview, but I was hopeful to hear his story and it seemed he was hopeful to share it. I am so sorry to read the news that Harry has passed away. My heart is heavy for all he has left behind. My deepest condolences to all who loved and knew him.

As a family member, I was "fortunate" (from a celebration perspective) to be part of Harry's funeral arrangements; however, after reading many of the beautiful tributes and heartfelt messages, I also wanted to contribute to honoring his life by sharing my thoughts/feelings.
Death is never "fair"...but the passing of Harry feels especially unfair. Four weeks ago the family was celebrating a successful heart transplant and though we recognized that there would be some ups-and-downs in the recovery process, I honestly felt we were good - Harry had cleared such a major hurdle and now he just had to get stronger. Before the heart transplant, I remember thinking (and telling Tierney), "it's just not his time" (and I was right) and I held that belief to the very end. And Harry fought - but that's not surprising to anyone who knew him. This has been so very difficult and I think its because there were more chapters to be written and for me...this is probably the hardest part to accept - he was just too young.
Harry was a devoted and loving husband, father, Grampy, brother, neighbor, and friend and he loved his family so very much. He had five grandchildren (Jackson - 9; Brielle - 8; Amber - 5; Austin - 2; Aiden - 6 months) and another on the way (baby Yeoman - May 2022) and he had so much more to contribute to their (and our) lives. And this where I feel especially saddened and disheartened. Unfortunately, I am not the most handy person (in fact...I barely know which end of the hammer to hold) and I always thought "that's okay"...Harry can teach my kids how to use their hands. Now...I have a ceiling fan that doesn't work and several cupboard hinges that are disconnected...and I have no idea what to do. And without hesitation, Harry would have helped...because he always did.
I had the opportunity to be with Harry shortly before he passed away. It was heart wrenching (and I completely fell apart shortly after - I made it home from the hospital, but only a few feet into the house); however, as I reflect on it now, I was very fortunate to be there to say goodbye. Harry was special - he was just...good. If Tierney and I raise our children to be half as good as Harry...then we've done a great job as parents. At the visitation, several people stated that "the world needs more people like Harry"...and that's the honest truth. Harry's passing has really been very difficult for the family, but I am hopeful to be better because of it (which is sad - I would much rather be better...with him in our lives). I will strive to be a better person because of Harry and I hope that when we meet again he will be proud of me - if I can be more like Harry...I will be a much better man. If I only accomplish one more thing in my life, it will be to teach my children how important there Grampy was - we will honor his memory :)
Chris (Mom) - I am so sorry for our loss...this is a very deep cut, but your family will be there to help you...every step of the way. We love you very much and will do everything we can to support you during this difficult time (and this support will always be there).
Harry - we all loved you so much and we'll never forget you...and if we can be more like you, the world will be a much better place :)
Sincerely - Owen Blythe (loving husband of Tierney; proud father of Amber, Austin and Aiden; and loving family member to Chris, Brandon, Diane, Jackson, Brielle, Stephanie, Steve, and baby Yeoman).
P.S. I neglected to mention how important Harry was to the community...but...wow, did he ever impact people he met - he was such a great person! He was also very intelligent and had such knowledge across a broad spectrum of subjects.
Love - Owen Blythe (son-in-law....dedicated to be better....because of Harry - thank you!)

To Mrs. Lawson and all the Lawson family, please accept my sincerest sympathy in the loss of your beloved husband, father, Grampy, family member, and friend. Although I didn't know Harry well, it was my privilege to have become acquainted when visiting Tierney and Owen in London. My late husband Ron shared several happy conversations with Harry when he was 'across the street'. Harry was an easy person to like and get acquainted with, and I too will miss his frequent visits. // Harry was always such a cheerful and friendly person, wonderful with his beloved family, always with a smile and a nod, or wave; active and ever-helpful. I know that he was always someone who could be counted on; and I'm sure you will each miss him terribly, missing his devotion and companionship, his unwavering loyalty, and his reliable way of 'always being there'. He was surely one of a kind and a true blessing to everyone. //Your video tribute is exceptionally lovely with its accompanying musical message which speaks volumes in its language of faith and hope. The photos are a cherished memory of a life well-lived and obviously thoroughly enjoyed. //Christian Scriptures assure us that "Blessed are those who mourn for they WILL be comforted". My hope and prayer for each of you is that you will find this truth to be of solace in your time of deepest sorrow. May God's grace and mercy comfort you in the days and weeks ahead; and may it bring you comfort to know that Harry is at peace in God's heavenly keeping, for all eternity. Sincerely, Rev. Jan McIntyre (London)

My heart is heavy too - I am burdened by his loss for his family and friends but also for me.
Harry started out as my client and soon became my friend. He came to me years ago with an oil and gas issue that he said he needed legal representation for, and I took it on not realizing that Harry's master plan was to groom me, a lawyer with a degree in geology, to help farmers get fair deals with oil and gas operators. He became my mentor and helped me to understand some of the complexity of oil and gas law. It wasn't too long before he and I were a team helping farmers to get fair treatment before the Energy Board and in a couple of instances the Court of Appeal where we were successful. I would never have taken on those cases had it not been for Harry. He helped me to become the lawyer that I am today, and for that I will be always thankful.
With Harry, it wasn't all work. We had an awful lot of fun and many many laughs while we worked towards getting great results for other farmers.
Gentle, confident, thoughtful and brave are words that come to mind when I think of Harry… and selfless. He was a real giver, the sort of person that I feel lucky to count as one of my friends.
Harry-you will be missed but never forgotten . I will not say goodbye but I will say that I will see you again one day my friend, and in the meantime you should be so proud of who you are and all the people that you helped on your journey. Jed

I was very sad to hear of Harry’s passing.
I joined the Kent federation and didn’t know anyone on the board. Harry was one of the first to welcome me and offer advice.
His generosity with time is something that I will never forget. I would call him about issues to see what he thought, and he would alway take time to give me his opinion and the back story that I needed before I made my opinion.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know him the last few years

I have so many fond memories of hanging out at the Lawson house and farm. Us kids would play on the bails, walk through the cattle barn, and play with the kittens. So many family get together throughout the years too and since Uncle Harry was always the adult up to date with electronics, he was always in charge to take the group family photo, he’d set the timer and run back to the group to join the picture. Uncle Harry was always so easy going too. I will always remember running into him at the Florence library when people had to do curbside pickup. We had a great visit for 10-15 minutes about farming. He was so intelligent, especially about farming and since I married farmer we always had something to talk about. I will miss him a lot.
