I have such fond memories of Ronnie during my career at the Canners. Ronnie was a great boss. You always knew where you stood with him. During my early days, one of my most important jobs was getting his toasted western sandwich from Oliphant's Garage.

Helen, Brad and Jeff.
I will always remember Ronnie's infectious laugh and the sweet smell of that pipe when he lit it up at the old Fire Hall as a kid. He often had some spare change for a kid to get a pop from the machine too. Ronnie was also great to work for at the Canners as a teenager and a great friend of my dad's for 50 years. He was a wonderful man.
I've attached an old Grade 2 picture of the group of 1938 with 3 future Dresden Firefighters in it.

Ronnie played a very important role when we were a young family.
He was influential to all of us by portraying his values, integrity and sense of duty while we spent many wonderful times at the Dresden Fire Hall, as a family. He was the reason Tim joined the Fire Department and stayed for 25 years.
We are blessed to have known him.

Its been too many years since I saw Uncle Ronnie..my fault I let the years pass by. But I have so many great memories of him
- the way he could be a "centre of calm" in busy family gatherings and always seemed to anchor my mom
- he and Aunt Helen qualified as "cool" Aunt and Uncle
- the fact that when I got older he could stay up longer than me and get up earlier (smiley)
- playing catch one time, he caught my hardest throw with his bare hand and did not even let on it stung
