Gary, you truly were a Dresdenite from the beginning to the end.
I remember when you lived on Lindsay Street and I would walk with you to public school and walk back home after school. Your Mom and Dad were always appreciative of anything that anybody did for you.
You spend more time in the arenas of Ontario then many young boys and girls who played hockey all their young lives and who continued to play until they were adults. You were a die hard Junior King and Lumberking fan through the good and bad years.
I had a chance to talk to you at Park Street Place when I was visiting Dad and even though you were feeling down and out you still enjoyed to visit and had time to talk. I will miss seeing you Gary as will everyone else in Dresden.

I first met Gary in elementary school 60 years ago, and we graduated high school the same year.
Unfortunately, I did not see Gary in the last 20 years, but he was known in our household. I would tell my wife & stepdaughter about Gary and his “Joke of the day” and the “daily weather report”. Even mentioning his name would bring a smile to our faces. When we heard the news of Gary’s passing, we all shed a few tears.
I can still hear his voice when we would meet “well hello Jay”
He knew so many people and remembered them all by name.
Back in the Lumberking Days the booster club would put on little events in the arena auditorium and one time we were playing Trivial Pursuit. I can still see Gary shaking his head so many times when we would give the wrong answer. He knew all the answers. Turns out he had the game and memorized all the questions. From then on, everyone wanted Gary on their team.
Thank you to all who looked out for Gary and were there with him at the end.
Dresden people are the best and we lost a great one.

Gary will truely be missed he was one of a kind he always remembered your name asked how you where doing ect always smiling. Always willing to help out and do the overhead . You didn't even have to ask because he would or be just there to do it without missing a Sunday. IT truely is a sad day he left such an imapact on so many lives espically in Dresden but we know he is dancing in Heaven and I can picture Gary praising the Lord just like he did in Church on Sunday's Gary You will never be missed and always thought of and a person that taught so many or us many things.

People with a heart and soul like Gary are the ones who make a community a community. While I haven’t lived in Dresden for many years, I will always remember the warm greetings he gave my mother, Lula, at the grocery store. It is nice to read about the positive impact he had on fellow Dresdenites. I am sure he would be proud of the warm memories being shared on these pages.

Sympathy to the Caroll Family
I fondly remember my daily walk to high school, when I would meet and walk the last stretch with Gary. So unique and warm, I would ask Gary for His joke of the day. He would deliver a unique joke with a sparkle in his eyes. We would belly laugh all the way to the front doors. Little did I know just how our laughter set the tone for my high school days. Indeed those jokes that erupted laughter were *good medicine* for our souls. I miss that kind of Joy... the Pure Joy, Gary created. Thank You Gary, as you enter eternity where I am certain the Laughter and Joy fills your celestial home. ...Love You Always for the Joy you poured into me! ...Kathy Wallace

Many of my fondest memories of my time in Dresden involve Gary. Whether it be sitting in a meeting together, driving him home while we chatted or watching a hockey game. Gary knew everyone by name and had a big smile for you. Gary will be deeply missed.

A fond memory of Gary would be him attending our baseball games in Dresden when I was in high school. I could hear him saying "Strike 'em out Lenny!" from the pitcher's plate. He was always keeping score, and had a great ability to be an honest spectator; suggesting when I wasn't having a good game, and the coach should swap me out! Dresden will never be the same, but his lasting impact on the town will be remembered for many years to come! Thinking of his closest friends and relatives during this difficult time and hoping that you feel the support from the entire community.
