Obituary of Rose Rebecca Stogner

Stogner, Rose passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 76 at Riverview Gardens, Chatham, Ontario on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Born in Paradise, Newfoundland, Rose was the daughter of the late Fred and Sybil (Clarke) Druken.  Beloved wife of the late Vern Stogner from Franklington, Louisana, together they moved to Thamesville in 1989. Rose was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 367, Thamesville, loved to attend card tournaments and spend time with friends.  Rose also helped in the kitchen and loved to prepare a good feed for her family and friends including her traditional Newfie Jigs Dinner.   Above all she loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed many summers with them at Clearville Park in Morpeth painting rocks and planting flowers.  Rose and Vern also enjoyed travelling to Louisana for winter months and spending time with her extended family there.

Rose is survived by her daughter Georgina Feys (Butterworth) and husband Greg, son Fred Butterworth and fiance Lisa (Stoner) and son Bill Butterworth and wife Jen (Matte).  She will be dearly missed by her seven grandchildren: Olivia, and Sydney Feys, Matthew Butterworth and Tyler Stoner, Aiden, Paige, and William Butterworth.  She is also survived by her sisters Madeline Tucker and friend Charlie (Newfoundland), Terri Foley (Wallaceburg), Elizabeth and husband Ron Whelan (Alberta), Eileen and husband Gord Woolridge (Kitchner), Christina and husband John Keaveney (New Brunswick), and her favourite brother Ron and wife Sandy (Kent Bridge).  She is predeceased by her sister Florence Learning and husband Wayne (Atikokan, Ontario), brothers Freddy, Alfonse and Don Druken (Newfoundland) and Joe Druken and wife Lotti (Toronto).  She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and cousins in Ontario and Newfoundland as well as her extended family in Louisana. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Dixon and the amazing staff at Riverview Gardens for their compassion and exceptional care of Rose over the last twelve months.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Rose has been cremated and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 367, Thamesville.
