So sorry to hear of your loss Betsy. I was remembering on his birthday when I made a big card and put 50 loonies on it for his 50th. Great memories from Sunny Beach.
Hi again. We went to the legion today but it was packed and would have had to park a long ways away. My partner has stage 4 COPD so can't even walk a few feet. Take care.

Ohhhhh Charlie !!! Charlie & Betsy, one of the very earliest seasonal families at our Camp! My Dad & Mom.... Toots & LaVerne ILES, started Sunny Beach in 1960 ! Betsy and Charlie were like family. I am so so so sorry for this loss, and my heart felt condolences to Betsy, and everyone who loved Charlie! He was bigger than life, and he LIVED it !!!! So many memories of our Sunny Beach family ! I had the privilege of of meeting and getting to know both Betsy(Momma Bets) and Charlie in the past 5 years. Charlie to me was a big gentle soul with a great sense of humour. One day while meeting at “The White House” located at Sunny Beach: I walked up with a blue Jean dress on that Charlie apparently was not fond of. He asked me why I was wearing a house dress. Lol My response was: When did you become the King of Fashion? The grin I will never forget. I will miss his smile and great sense of humour. Rest in peace Charlie. You were easy to love. Kathy Murphy

I'm so very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I loved Charlie as a brother, and he was there for me many times as teenagers & young adults. As one of my brother's best friends Charlie spent lots of time at our home and was always welcomed. Anyone who knew Charlie (long term) will remember his old car that he made into a topless vehicle and painted the words " Ha-ha" down the side of it. He truly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by many! Love to Betsy and their families.

We are so incredibly sad for the loss of Charlie. He was so very close to many people over his life time. He shared many stories that kept everyone laughing and those memories we will never forget. Both Scott and I loved him dearly and are so incredibly sad to see him go. Our love goes to Betsy and her family during this difficult time. Finally at peace Charlie,

Dear Betsy and Family
Sorry for your loss of Charlie, it has been a long fight for both of you, but now he is at peace, and hopefully you will find some comfort in knowing he is OK. He will have a few buddies up there to go fishing with, so didn't want him to miss out because he didn't have the gear. I am so glad I got to see you two on that nice sunny day on the back porch that last time he was home. Treasure all you fun memories and you do have many, I will miss seeing his big smile. Charlie and I grew up together, our parents were friends, and I remember trying to teach him how to dance many moons ago.

So sorry to hear Betsy, of Charlie's passing, he was a wonderful neighbour. David & I enjoyed having visits with him out in the yard. I remember in the winter time one year, how my vehicle had broken down & Charlie was so kind to drop everything & give me a ride up to the store. I truly appreciated his kindness. It was kinda fun to watch him out our bay window in the spring, as he would be out on his boat, going up & down the river. Pretty well every Tuesday he'd be out cutting his grass & every winter he'd be the first to have his driveway cleared of any snow. We are so blessed to have such awesome neighbours!

My condolences on the loss of Charlie. I remember him from Erieau when i was growing up in the 1970s. Life moves on, the cottage got sold and I married and moved away. I was blessed that my Brother let me tag along when he went to visit him at the trailer park in 2019. It was a great visit with the “Mayor”. My deepest sympathies to you and your Family Betsy.
