Dear John and Family,
Condolences to you and your Family John at Ethel's passing. We have very fond memories of shopping at your parents grocery store that was really a social event listening to the many stories of people and events in Dresden. The McVean Family over many years has been an important reason for the Town of Dresden's success.
I also, have fond memories of our time spent at the Dresden swimming pool and growing up together in our small wonderful town.
All the best to you and your Family John.
Sincerely,
Ken & Janice Bee

For me, Ethel is an unforgettable person in many ways. On a personal note, she shared attributes with my mother that I value and admired, especially her her abilities to organize, plan, and implement were unparalleled. Likewise, her energy, kindness, consideration for others. I will never forget her 100th Birthday at Meighen Manor in Toronto, surrounded by dozens of other residents, all celebrating their love for her, and enjoying a delicious birthday cake with her friends. The staff mentioned that Ethel held the record for attending the most events offered by the Manor in a given month -- over 40 events, as I recall. I greatly miss Ethel with her wisdom, warmth, consideration, and devotion to her family. May she rest in eternal peace, Arnold Love.

John, our family just learned of your mom’s passing this weekend. Our family has fond memories of shopping at your parents’s shop. What a lovely couple. But John, my best memory and a testament to your up bringing, was when we met n line for a flight to Las Angeles, you enroute to meet friends there and me on a long layover to meet friends in New Zealand. You and your friends were kind enough to invite me to enjoy your company fior the afternoon. Then you took me back to the airport for my flight. I never properly thanked you, so let me do so now and thank your parents for raising such a swell guy!
Sincerely,
Janice Vansickle

Oh my, so many fond Dresden memories just came flooding back upon seeing your mom's photo. When I moved to Dresden in 1960, you were my first friend, Clue...invited me over that first day as I recall. Ted and Ethel were so welcoming...and boy could that woman whistle!
So sorry to hear of Ethel's passing. It was very thoughtful of you to bring her close to you in TO. Please accept Cheryl and my sincere condolences. Keep on whistling, old chum.

Hi John
Gay and I send our condolences on the sad occasion of your Mother’s passing.Moving to Toronto at any age takes a lot of courage but at age 75 is above and beyond the call of duty.
Your mother was an exceptional person who never backed down from a challenge. She leaves a void which can never be filled.
All the best John to you and family and may your Mother rest in peace.

John, I was so sorry to hear of Ethel’s passing. I was privileged to have met both of your parents and fondly remember a fun filled ride from Dresden to Toronto with them after a training session! In the trunk was baking wrapped in butcher paper providing an immediate bond and a lively conversation on the merits of growing up in ““retail.” The added extra was receiving a package of Ethel’s world famous peanut brittle.
My thoughts are with you and your family. Warm regards,
Mary Ann Triggs
