Fond memories of Dave and all the Martin family from our time together at Dawn Mills United Church. I think Dave was our Sunday School superintendent for a while. It`s wonderful to know that Dawn Mills`one-time sister church is still going, and I`m sure Dave and Connie have a lot to do with that.

My deepest, heartfelt sympathies Connie to you , yours, & all Martin families on the passing of Dave. Remembering back to our S.S. 2 Harwich , Kent Centre school; The sidewalk, guys on one side, gals on other, baseball challenges; The windmill, outhouse, furnace, the pointer; moving desks, our great teachers teaching us well, ( all grades in same room) & putting up with us! Skating on McGregors creek, with wet, cold ,frozen feet, climbing up to the Martin home to be welcomed by Mr. Mrs. Martin. “ “OFF““ with those wet socks etc., sit by the wood stove to warm,& dry, & then be treated to hot chocolate, fresh homemade cookies by “MRS”. Martin. Wonderful memories of the hospitality of the Martins’ & days gone by. May you be granted eternal rest Dave.

Dear Connie and family. We are so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing.
He was a great guy!
Connie, I have many fond memories of Dave’s Christmas shopping at MacTavish’s.
Each year he would come in and I’d show him a few things and he was up on what he had bought before. He would say I think she has something like that already. One year I had picked out 3 things that I thought he would like and had put them aside because he hadn’t been in. He came in about 1 hour later and I showed him what I had thought he’d like.
He was happy with all 3 and couldn’t decide. He said you know she’s been pretty good this year I’ll take all 3. I offered to wrap them for under the tree, his reply no that’s ok I’ll give them to her when I get home.
Always a smile on his face.
Your family has so many wonderful memories.

I have know Dave for a great many years through working in the research department at the Canners, and at Tim Hortons hanging out with the guys.
